Why?

Hello dearest editor,
I probably believe something is wrong somewhere especially with your mots recent edit on the article, Draft:Gerald F. Seib. Firstly, you tagged it per copyvio (close paraphrasing) of a detector which was cited from another source. Common, the article was created by a new editor as I can see and may not know all these things, the best option is to help. Optionally, the article in question meets out general notability guidelines for WP:JOURNALIST and WP:GNG and mostly, even if it goes to AFD, it will possibly survive. That's the goal of AFC and not otherwise. Now, my major interest is why this revert. It seems good to me and as a matter of fact, can be copyedited (there are many articles needing copywdit on same encyclopedia). I just saw this reversion and decide to demand the reason when you could have deleted the copied ones and revdel. Besides, we know the rile there is that it should be deleted when nothing is left after removing the copied ones. — Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 15:15, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2024 May newsletter

The second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.

The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:

The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news credits and at least 200 did you know credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics and good topics.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed during Round 3, which starts on 1 May at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please see this page. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. DYK for Lore Harp McGovern

On 6 May 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lore Harp McGovern, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Lore Harp McGovern went from being a housewife to the CEO of a $36 million computer company in six years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lore Harp McGovern. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Lore Harp McGovern), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiProject Anarchism checking in

Hey there! Just wanted to say thanks for finding an image of Rosa Laviña for the article I wrote about her recently, and for the article on Marcel·lí Massana too! It's really helpful to have images for people of the Spanish Civil War and resistance to the Francoist dictatorship, as they're so often unavailable on Wikipedia and Wikicommons. I have noticed that, while you're on the WikiProject Anarchism members list, you don't appear to have been very active on our noticeboard, which has recently seen an upsurge in activity. In case you haven't seen what we've been up to, here's an update of our most recent activity:

  • In the past couple years, we have brought four articles to Featured status, including the ones on Nestor Makhno, La Salute è in voi, The May Pamphlet and "The Day Before the Revolution". We're likely to get even more to this status in the near future, so stay tuned to the front page for some of our best articles on the platform.
  • A number of our most vital articles have been reviewed and achieved Good Article status, including ones on Gaetano Bresci, Camilo Cienfuegos, Joseph Déjacque, Luigi Galleani, Paul Goodman, and the Kronstadt rebellion. As these "vital articles" are generally considered among the most important on the platform, we aim to get as many as possible to GA and FA status over the coming years.
  • We recently hit the first milestone for our stub-expansion project, getting the number of stubs down to under 1/5th of our total articles. This means that the vast majority of our articles are now relatively substantial, as we expand and add greater detail to the articles that lack sufficient information. We hope to narrow this number down even further, so more articles have the information they deserve.
  • We just started a cleanup drive, in which we are aiming to resolve the problematic parts of our articles, from finding citations for unsourced sections to fixing up formatting errors. In doing this, we intend to make sure our articles provide the best possible reading experience, without unsourced claims or ugly tags littering the page.

If you'd like to be more closely involved in our collective efforts, consider adding our noticeboard to your watchlist or adding your name to our mailing list. We'd be very happy to see you more around the project.

All the best to you, whatever your future plans are. Regards, --Grnrchst (talk) 10:50, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
