Watson is an upcoming American television series set to air on CBS. The series, described as a "medical drama with detective elements," is centered around the character of Dr. John Watson from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories.[1]
It is the second Holmes-based series from CBS, following Elementary, which shares many of the same creative team; the two programs are otherwise unrelated.
Synopsis
One year after the death of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson, now head of a clinic specializing in rare disorders, finds himself pitted against his friend's killer, the criminal mastermind Moriarty.
Cast
- Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, a former consulting detective who heads a clinic specializing in rare disorders.
- Peter Mark Kendall as Dr. Stephens Croft and Dr. Adam Croft, identical twin brothers serving as surgeons at the clinic.
- Ritchie Coster as Shinwell Johnson, a former criminal acquaintance of Holmes and Watson who now serves as the clinic's Administrative Aide.
Production
Watson was announced in October 2022, to be created, written, produced and showrun by Craig Sweeny who had previously worked on Elementary.[2] The show was given a straight to series order, bypassing the pilot stage.[3]
By January 2024, Morris Chestnut was attached to executive produce and star as the title character.[4] Executive producer Larry Teng will direct the first episode.[5] In May, Peter Mark Kendall and Ritchie Coster were announced as the first core cast additions.[6]
The series will be shot in Vancouver in June 2024, although the show's setting will be Pittsburgh.[7][8]
Release
The series is scheduled to premiere in the mid-season replacement for the 2024–25 television season on CBS.[9] The show will be available to stream on Paramount+.
