Hi. Would you care to comment at this RfC for the article Artpop? It originally started as a proposal to remove an unverifiable statement decided upon by editors in a previous consensus but has moved to a similar proposal titled "Agyle's proposal". Promotional content in user space

Hi. This is in user space, but it has just been sitting there since last August and I don't see any sign of a live article on the company it's promoting. Not sure if it qualifies for speedy (G11) or should just be blanked and am asking your advice. Rivertorch (talk) 13:27, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. I've deleted it as G11 advert. ... discospinster talk 15:19, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Keep an eye on John Pinette, there's an IP editor vandalizing the page. I don't know how to revert ("undo") back more than one, so I cut and pasted from your last edit. Taco Viva (talk) 05:54, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

TPS: To revert to any previous version of a page, click on "history", then on the link for the version you want to restore (these links have time and date). When the version you're after loads, you'll see a pink bar at the top that says "This is an old revision of this page...." Click "edit this page", enter your edit summary, click the "Save page" button, and voilà. That sounds complicated, but after you've done it a few times it becomes intuitive. About Belém, in Lisbon

Hi, Discospinster, i totally forgot about this one. I don't know if you remember this issue,

  • About Belém\Santa Maria de Belém

I'm updating all Lisbon parishes into the new 2012 reform. Santa Maria de Belem is gone. There's a new parish called Belem only (merging the former Santa Maria de Belem and São Francisco parishes. --Good Hope Phanta (talk) 20:40, 27 October 2013 (UTC) That information would have to be moved to a new title then, via the instructions at WP:MOVE. The article has an editing history that needs to be preserved, so it should not be deleted. ... discospinster talk 21:18, 27 October 2013 (UTC) Hi, i tried that but it looks like there's already one. I wasn't deleting the entire article, I was trying to copy the article into that "Belem" article and trying to redirect "Santa Maria de Belem" too. But you didn't give me enough time. :S --Good Hope Phanta (talk) 22:14, 27 October 2013 (UTC) The article already existed because it was a redirect to the original one. You can't copy and paste one article into another because that disconnects the content from the editors who wrote it. I will perform the move, since I'm an administrator and can overwrite redirects. ... discospinster talk 23:48, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

So can you change this article's title [1] Belém, Lisbon

to look like this: Belém (Lisbon)

This way, all new Lisbon's parishes with the most recent Administrative Reform of 2012 will look like this:

ParishName (Lisbon)

Belém is the only parish missing this title format.

Thanks in advance. --Good Hope Phanta (talk) 23:23, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

The content you added was not written in a neutral tone of voice. It appeared to be promoting the artist rather than simply speaking about the facts of his biography and career. Foreign-language articles

Hi: I just deleted Just Dance 2015 for the second time (as a hoax) and noticed you had deleted it A2. I've left a warning note for the author; however, I'd like to point out that being in a foreign language is not per se a reason for speedy deletion - it's listed as one of the non-reasons. Where A2 applies is when the article already exists on the foreign-language Wikipedia, and in this instance pt:Just Dance 2015 was deleted on March 1. Small difference in this instance, and I remain puzzled as to why people do this, but sometimes the article can be translated via WP:Pages needing translation into English. deleting oakleigh greek orthodox college

Hi discospinster.

Thanks for your advice about requesting page deletion for the O.G.O.C page.

I have added a "speedy deletion" template, citing 'g6' and/or 'g8' as the reason it requires deletion.

Is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

The problem is that the organisation (Oakleigh Grammar) is wrongly represented on search engines because of the Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College page redirecting to Oakleigh Grammar.

Whilst we wait for the page to be deleted, I thought that by removing the redirect, the two would no longer be associated. That's why I wanted to remove the redirect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajcol13 (talkcontribs) 05:52, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

If it does get deleted, then the incoming links from other articles must be updated to the new name. If you go to Special:WhatLinksHere/Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College you will see a list of the articles that link to Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College, so those links would have to be changed to Oakleigh Grammar.
Mind you, I don't think it will be deleted, because it is a useful redirect (people who search for it should not be presented with a blank page or deleted article). Eventually the Google issue will sort itself out as the newly-named article is linked to from various other web pages. ... discospinster talk 18:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

My name is dr. Peter HANTZ, I'm a research scientist of Hungarian origin. As a hobby, I deal with the cultural history of a Hungarian cake, the kurtoskalacs 'kurtosh kalach'.

We published several articles and founded the Trade Corporation. We also renewed the Wikipedia article on the cake and uploaded a series of pictures I made personally. Unfortunately, a person or bot called elcobolla regulatrily destroys our work. No arguments like the pictures are my and the trade corporation's property, e-mails with agreements to use them, putting the license agreement on our homepage are accepted. Presently a series of my students are uploading the pictures short time after they are deleted, but this cannot be a long-term solution.

Would you be so kint to try stopping this vandalism?

Hello Dr. Hantz. The images you are trying to add to the article do not currently exist. They were deleted from the Commons by User:Elcobbola (who is not a bot) because they were recreations of files that were already deleted. I have no other insight, so you'll have to take it up with Elcobbola. ... discospinster talk 20:55, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping, Discospinster. This is a Commons issue. Peter has been uploading copyvios/images without acceptable permission. He has been told by four seperate Commons admins, including myself ([2], [3], [4], [5]) to utilize the OTRS system to submit permission. Peter did email OTRS, but the permission was not acceptable and, consequently, we are not able to restore the images. He has since followed through with a threat to sockpuppet to restore the images (see the current list of sockpuppets). Эlcobbola talk 21:20, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Dear Discospinster,

I did everything possible to demonstrate that the I am the owner of the pictures and I make them free to use: -all of them were taken by me or by a photographer paid by me: both of us wrote the necessary e-mails -the Trade Corporation and the NGO behind, as well as the colleague who put the text and background on some of the figures wrote an e-mail that the pictures are public -I wrote a series of e-mails and filled a form that the pictures are public -we put this copyright information on the homepage -we included this copyright information in the description of the pictures -we wrote this copyright information in the upload form

Sorry we cannot do more. The issue with Elcobolla is not a professional, but a psychologic one: it's a clear bad will. I made an official complaint due to the vandalism at the Commons in Hungary and in Switzerland.

vszhuba (Mr. Huba Vadasz-Szatmari) is not my puppet, and I'm nost his puppet. Huba is my secretary. The version 2 of the (yet nonexisting) figures were put by intension, they will be uploaded during the day. 12 versions are prepared at this time, and ready to be uploaded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.165.205.220 (talk) 04:52, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Figure Skating controversy

Hi, I'm not sure what is the proper procedure, so I thought I'd ask. Sir Edgar (talk · contribs) keeps adding a phrase to Adelina Sotnikova article. He did this the first time on 18 March which you reverted. In the last week, he's tried to add this phrase three times (all without edit summary nor citation) - 18 April, 20 April, and 22 April. In the last month he has also twice section blanked one side's opinion on the competition's page (5 April, 9 April). Please advice. Thank you, Kirin13 (talk) 16:45, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

As told multiple times to Sir Edgar, content is not deleted - it's on the Figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Ladies' singles. As discussed on Talk:Adelina Sotnikova‎ it should not be on her page. All my edits have an edit summary, so a reason is always given. The rest of your comment is not worth responding to. Kirin13 (talk) 18:05, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
I don't think it should go there and all of the content was NOT moved. Don't lie.--Sir Edgar (talk) 06:49, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
It was moved there a couple months ago. After that, there were a few hundred edits by over a dozen editors that got the article to its current state. If you feel something is missing, no one is preventing you from adding it there. However, that doesn't mean it won't get edited or possible removed by other editors. As for it not being correct location - the controversy is about the event's judging, not anything Adelina Sotnikova did. So it makes sense that it's discussed on the event page. Invitation join the new Physiology Wikiproject!

Physiology gives us an understanding of how and why things in the field of medicine happen. Together, let us jumpstart the project and get it going. Our energy is all it needs.

Based on the long felt gap for categorization and improvization of WP:MED articles relating to the field of physiology, the new WikiProject Physiology has been created. WikiProject Physiology is still in its infancy and needs your help. On behalf of a group of editors striving to improve the quality of physiology articles here on Wikipedia, I would like to invite you to come on board and participate in the betterment of physiology related articles. Help us to jumpstart this WikiProject.

  • Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You can tag the talk pages of relevant articles with {{WikiProject Physiology|class=|importance=}} with your assessment of the article class and importance alongwith. Please note that WP:Physiology, WP:Physio, WP:Phy can be used interchangeably.
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing physiology articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Why not try and strive to create a good article! Physiology related articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
  • Your contributions to the WikiProject page, related categories and templates is also welcome.
  • To invite other editors to this WikiProject, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • To welcome editors of physiology articles, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • You can feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. You can also put your suggestions there and discuss the scope of participation.

Hoping for your cooperation! DiptanshuTalk 12:43, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

I noticed you revered my changes for the 24 main article and the article for Season 9(Live Another Day). I'm really getting sick of this edit war but I also want ACCURATE information. With the edits that are there after you reverted my changes the article gives the impression that the upcoming 24 episodes are a new series like a spin off or something. That is NOT true. It is a continuation of the original 24 series and the articles should reflect that information. It is season 9!--Jimv1983 (talk) 02:43, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Sir, I want to move article from "Samsung C&T Corporation" to "Samsung C&T" Because 삼성물산's English name is Samsung C&T. Corporation means a company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IamAKorean (talkcontribs) 18:33, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

The official website does say "Samsung C&T Corporation", so it might be the official name. In that case you would want to make a move request and explain why you think the article name should be changed. To do this, go to the page WP:REQMOVE. ... discospinster talk 18:41, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

If you show the wbsite, you will see the logo "Samsung C&T". And, if it is Samsung C&T Corporation, then, Samsung Electronics will be remaned from "Samsung Electronics" to "Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.".(Show Samsung Elec's website)

I'm still not totally convinced, but you can make a move request at WP:REQMOVE. ... discospinster talk 02:50, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you I have read the article you mentioned in your message. However, I would like to have access to the page I had built in order to start changing the content using my own words. I do have authorization from my organaisation to use the content however does thaht not change anything?

Thank you. Tatiana — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tatiana155 (talkcontribs) 19:05, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions on how to allow the material to be used on Wikipedia (via the terms of the public licences CC-BY-SA and GFDL). As for the Weapons Law Encyclopedia, it would probably be better to write it in your own words anyway, since the subject must be presented in an encyclopedic tone and not in a way that looks promotional. ... discospinster talk 19:11, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I have understood thath but can i not have access to what I have oreviously written in my sandbox for example without the article beeing posted, so that I may review the content. Also, I believe the Geneva Academy of international law and Human Rights is the same I would like to access the content so that I may change it.

I can't put it back up because it's a copyright infringement, but since it was copied from the web sites, you could get the text from there (and then write up something in your own words). I have also been on Wikipedia for a while and I am familiar with the policy of WP:Verifiability which states that challenged material must be accompanied by a reliable source. "I watched it on TV" is not a reliable source. ... discospinster talk 01:06, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Except with the frantic reactions once players get drafted, it's hard to get full-fledged edits in with users adding little snippets of info. Also, this provides the list as well. NFLDraftCentral 01:10, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Your continuing edits on figure skating

Hi discospinster: Thanks for your edits with SirE. I noticed that after your edits on the Adelina page, that he/she then jumped over to "2014 women figure skating" and continued with multiple "LOL" reverts there against other editors.

Separately, I have started an extended BRD on the "Ukraine" Talk page which I hoped you might glance at. I was so impressed by your treatment of the SirE situation that I thought I might request that you try to consider doing the oversight for this BRD on Ukraine. Since I have now posted my opinion there under its Item#5, I am likely no longer to be seen as "neutral" on the oversight at that Talk page. It would be very helpful if an experienced editor like yourself could complete the oversight there which should not last more than another 48-72 hours. If you can make any other suggestions for improving it, all this would be of significant use due to the many previous edit disputes there by other editors. FelixRosch (talk) 19:22, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Regarding this article that was deleted, I am wondering if you could tell me how much content was there at the time of its removal? Per IMDB she had a recurring role in Road to Avonlea (at least 7 episodes as Peg Bowen, a notable character in the Avonlea mythos) and at least 3 films. It seems worth putting up a stub for her. I'm wondering if all this information was present at the time of the 2008 deletion? Ranze (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

The original article was about an American magistrate rather than the actress, so there wasn't much about Road to Avonlea. :-) ... discospinster talk 00:43, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

thekompany.com Progrock Records Starcastle

TheKompnay.com/Progrock Records/Mindawn were founf guilty in Federal Court of Copyright Infringement regarding my copyrighted songs Starcastle's album "Song of Times" SMGA3000 is Shawn Gordon the owner and operator of the infringing companies who keeps deleting the information in an attmpt to hide from public view the fact that his companies were found guilty. Further he contiues to go onto the Starcastle Wikipedia entry and remove all mention of me from the band history. It is a matter of public record in the United States Federal Court System under [2]. This harrasment and bullying by Mr. Gordon should be stopped. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaq54 (talkcontribs) 16:37, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

As I said on the article's talk page, just because a court decision was issued against the subject, it doesn't mean it has to be mentioned. Wikipedia articles are not supposed to be a list of everything that happens, just noteworthy things. It's certainly not a place to air grievances. ... discospinster talk 16:45, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

It could considered a public service to warn others of the abusive and illegal business practices of a person or company attempting to draw others into a situation to be abused. No, it isn't well know to the general public, but it should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaq54 (talkcontribs) 16:50, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

That is exactly the point. Wikipedia is not a forum for "warning others" of anything. It's an encyclopedia of notable subjects and events. If you are intent on complaining about the company, you need to do it elsewhere. ... discospinster talk 17:01, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

I'm not complaining, I'm stating facts. I complained in a lawsuit that dragged on for 4 years, which I won. Did you send a message to SMGA300 to stop deleting information of the Starcastle wikipedia entry? There are thousands of people around the world who have asked what happened to our last record. By coming to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia they can learn. I'm not making this up, it's a fact, which is what I thought went into encyclopedias. It's ironic that by trying to be "fair" you're giving cover to someone who was proven in US Federal Court to be dishonest.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaq54 (talkcontribs) 17:10, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Starcastle unsourced & copyright infringement

Discospinster, since you're already looking into this topic, I wanted to note that based on Talk:Starcastle and looking at provided link most the page is copyright infringement. Also there is not a single ref for the entire page. Since it's copyright infringement - should all the content be removed; since page has no references, should it be nominated for deletion? Thanks, Kirin13 (talk) 17:18, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Are you suggesting that I have infringed someone else's copyrights? How do you suggest that this is Copyright Infringement? The Starcastle page linked is the website that I own and maintain. I am a member of Starcastle. What is it that you claim to be an infringement? Are you doing this at the request of SMGA3000 (Shawn Gordon)? The case in question involved my copyrights. Please clarify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaq54 (talkcontribs) 18:47, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Wikipedia is free - are you forfeiting all rights to the text to Wikipedia and thus the world? And even if you are, I'm not sure Wikipedia permits copies of another website regardless of whether author of other page approves or not. Also, you have a conflict of interest and should NOT be editing any of these Wikipedia articles. Kirin13 (talk) 18:53, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

I've stripped it back to the first pre-copyvio version I can find, which was 2007. I added some stuff from the current version - discography, etc. Shaq54, even if text from the website is donated, the article was far too promotional - it read like a fan page. It's a shame it wasn't dealt with earlier. New text would have to be sourced - simple facts maybe from the web page (dates, names) - claims for success, etc would need independent sources. Dougweller (talk) 19:25, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

The page was put together by fans, I'm not the person to making a load of changes to a site, however I do appreciate your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaq54 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
