Mirrors is a single-player role-playing game for the PC that is currently in the initial stages of development. The game is primarily story and character-driven, utilizing a wide variety of skills and strategy between the characters to succeed in battles. Using many traditional RPG (Role-Playing Game) elements, new abilities are gained through leveling up, equipping certain items, and so on. The game uses a standard CTB (Conditional Turn-Based Battle) system.

Gameplay

While Mirrors is played mostly from the perspective of the main protagonist, Halen, every one of the nine main protagonists is used extensively throughout the game. These characters start out at a hub world known simply as "the castle" and make their way through several other worlds, each entirely different from the next, collecting special items that are used to seal these worlds off from each other and destructive, supernatural forces.

These forces are monsters known as "specters". Specters are dangerous, shadowy creatures that act as the primary antagonists throughout the game. They come in a wide variety classes, some using basic melee attacks while others are magic-based. There are several boss types in addition to the more common specters that appear in random battles.

In addition to winning a series of battles, the player must thoroughly explore the many worlds, finding key objects and clues used to solve basic puzzles to save these worlds from destruction.

While there are nine playable characters, only three may be used at a time. In most instances, the player will be able to choose freely which characters he/she would like to have in the party. However, there will be times when the presence of certain characters is mandatory due to the story line. The characters can be switched in and out of the party at "the castle".

Plot

Setting

In Mirrors, the player must progress through a number of level-like dimensions, or "worlds". These worlds contain settings, characters, and enemies all unique to each other and are only connected through the central hub world, "the castle". Each world exemplifies a distinct theme and offers a new challenge to the player.

Characters

With nine main characters, Mirrors is very much a character-driven game. Each one of these characters belongs to a world and acts as a sort of human embodiment of its core.
