Does the word "Block" in "Block Party" originate from "block" the street to have a party or from the whole city "block" is having a party?

I have difficulty imaging what this party is like. Does anyone have a picture or something? Is it still common today? -- Taku 08:20, Apr 29, 2004 (UTC)

Block Parties are a great way to make new friends and get close to your neighbors. It is kind of like a team building event because there is a lot of work that goes into a block party and everyone helps to hopefully make it a wonderful day. There is endless things to do such as music, entertainment, activities, games. Don't forget about safety. You need to close roads down, get permits.
