Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is an upcoming American fantasy sitcom created by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. It is the sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012). Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprise their roles from the original series, with Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos joining the cast.
The series is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel and Disney+ in late 2024.
Premise
The series picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an older Justin Russo had left his powers behind, and he's living an ordinary life with his wife (Gianopulos) and two kids (Thiele). When a powerful young wizard (LeAnn Brown) shows up at his door, Russo must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.

Production
Development
In January 2024, it was announced that a sequel series to Wizards of Waverly Place was in active development, with the pilot episode ordered by Disney Branded Television. Selena Gomez and David Henrie would reprise their roles as Alex Russo and Justin Russo from the original series, with Gomez and Henrie also serving as executive producers. Gomez would appear in the pilot, while Henrie would act as a series regular. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas would serve as showrunners and executive producers, and Andy Fickman would direct the series.[1] In March, the series was officially greenlit, with principal photography scheduled to begin in April 2024, in Los Angeles.[2]
Casting
Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos joined the cast playing Billie, Roman Russo, and Giada Russo respectively.[1] Gomez would only guest star in the pilot episode.[2]
Release
The series is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel and Disney+ in late 2024.[2]
