Out of Context Statements

In regards to the parenting comments in the "Personal Life" section regarding the elder Smith's parenting style that, "We generally don't believe in punishment. From the time Jaden was five or six we would sit him down, and all he has to do is be able to explain why what he did was the right thing for his life."

Those statements, taken alone, imply that Smith Sr. is the type of parent that allows his children to do anything they can justify, but the statement is out of context, and in context with the rest of the "Personal Life" section, everything else in there heavily implies the same. In truth, the remainder of the interview with Smith Sr. reads,

"I think it's a much more difficult question to ask someone - 'Why was that right?' - than to try to show them why it was wrong.

"Nobody wants to be wrong, all parts of yourself fight like crazy to not be wrong. So I’ll say to Jaden, 'Why was that the right thing to do for your life?' and if he can explain why kicking his sister in the chest was the right thing to do, we can see to it that he understands that it wasn’t so smart."

That seems to show a much more reasonable, and responsible, parenting approach. Placed into context with the rest of the information in the "Personal Life" section, those statements would radically alter the way the information is processed, and help the reader understand what Mr. Smith was actually talking about.

Full Disclosure: I have no love or hate for this kid either way, just a commitment to the truth. I used to be a journalist and now I'm an attorney, and I just wanted to check this page out to see what all the hate towards this kids was about because it seemed so odd for so much virulent hate to be focused towards an arrogant 16-year-old (--really, aren't all rich 16-year-olds arrogant? --Kidding.). I found the rest of the comments simply by clicking on the citation. No matter what this kid is actually guilty of, it's obvious that the above statements have placed out of context. I was going to edit the page to insert the rest of the comments, but I obviously can't, so if someone with a commitment to the facts would please insert the relevant remaining portions of the interview into the article, that would be great.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zundman7301 (talkcontribs) 22:16, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

possible philosophy section?

As a philosopher, Jaden Smith has said many deep and scholarly statements, and they are felt by many.

Some of these statements include

"How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real" "How is the sun yellow when it's a star?" "Why is the sky blue when we can see a lot of purple?"

Agreed. Do it now, please! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2804:14D:5CDB:83BA:F883:4B7E:9BEB:D8CB (talk) 16:32, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do it , please Mafufu (talk) 18:34, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He's also a philosopher now? Are you people serious? The statements mentioned above are convoluted pseudo-intellectual crap uttered by a spoiled rich kid, and only percieved as "deep" by people with limited weltanschauung, while actual scholars and philosophers of the past generations are spinning in their graves... --White rotten rabbit (talk) 13:56, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

West Indian category

how exactly is he west Indian? i see no reference in his mother or father's page of their heritage.--27.123.141.219 (talk) 05:45, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're absolutely correct. There is absolutely no evidence that he or his parents are from West India. The category "West Indian descent" was removed. --White rotten rabbit (talk) 14:09, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
